About the 10 Women Campaign:
Jo Kreiter/Flyaway Productions, one of San Francisco's leading innovative dance companies, extends their artistic investigations of women's social, political and cultural identity into the civic realm by launching The 10 Women Campaign. Each year, commencing in 2002, the critically-acclaimed dance company will honor 10 leading women in arts and civic life who have affected great social change. This year's celebration will take place at ODC Theater and Lobby on October 6th, 2003 . The 10 Women Campaign is a celebration of the risk, empowerment and social potency of women. Flyaway Productions' critically acclaimed dance performances are known for risk-based physical abandon based in socially potent inquiry. The 10 Women Campaign is an extension of the company's artistic investigations of women's social, political and cultural identity. The campaign is also an important means by which the company will build the foundation necessary to support its vision of becoming a nationally significant company. The campaign will highlight the contributions of women, and will also promote the empowerment of fellow women through sharing visibility. With the shared visibility of the 10 women of the campaign, the company hopes to build their foundation of audience and patronage support. "I wanted to create a giving and receiving campaign that would empower women and integrate art and civic life; one in which leading women from art, politics and business could dialogue and explore ways of creating, collaborating, giving light and lending visibility" said Jo Kreiter, Artistic Director.
